The name of this design "Black Gold" was inspired by the "Black Power" slogan. Black Power is a political slogan and a name for various associated ideologies aimed at achieving self-determination for people of African/Black descent. It is used by Black Americans in the United States and Pan-Africans around the world.

The raised fist (also known as the clenched fist) is a symbol of solidarity and support. It is also used as a salute to express unity, strength, defiance, or resistance. The salute dates back to ancient Assyria as a symbol of resistance in the face of violence.

The black fist, also known as the Black Power fist is a logo generally associated with black nationalism. Its most widely known usage is by the Black Panther Party in the 1960s.

In the midst of continued western imperialism, colonialism, patriarchy and structural violence the black fist pulls on the traditions of the Black Panthers and the third world liberation movements of the 50s 60s and 70s to call for transnational solidarity of the African Diaspora and all oppressed people of color across the globe. The meaning behind the black fist has been redefined in the face of state violence against black bodies and neocolonialism across the globe. The black fist has also been adopted by Black/African feminist and womanist movements throughout the diaspora.

This design was created in hopes that folks within the African/Black Diaspora would find a form of solidarity. This shirt is also a way for allies of these movements to show their solidarity and support within the movement.

Before purchasing this item, you will be prompted to ensure that you understand the meaning behind the design & why it is so important to the growth of our community and our collective/individual consciousness.
